We recognise that early reading is the cornerstone of academic success and lifelong learning. We prioritise decoding, fluency, and reading for pleasure from the earliest stages and are committed to providing a high-quality phonics programme to help every child learn to read. We’ve chosen Monster Phonics—a systematic synthetic phonics programme that’s engaging, accessible, and effective for all learners in our early years and Key Stage 1 classes.

What do you enjoy most about Phonics? 

Reception child: "I like reading all the sounds at the start."

Reception child: "I love reading the books on the board. It doesn't matter if I don't get a turn to read a page because I might next time.  I always read it in my head and then we all read it together."

Year 1 child: "I enjoy learning the new sounds and joining in with sentences.  I like joining in with everything."

Year 1 child: "When we watch the videos.  When we use the whiteboards."

Year 2 child: "In Phonics, I love to read."
