2025-2026
Hello Year 4!
Welcome to our class page!
This is where you will be able to find important information for our class and have a look at some of the things we have been up to in Year 4.
Things to Remember-
Daily
Please make sure you have your water bottle in school every day and remember to take it home.
Remember to bring your reading book and diary in every day.
Monday
We will check your reading diaries to see if you have read three times each week. If you have, you will get a stamp for the Reading Race. It is really important to make sure you are reading to an adult at home regularly.
We will have our weekly spelling test on a Monday. Please make sure your spelling homework book comes into school on a Monday too. You will have 10 spellings to learn each week and it is really important you learn these words.
- Please come to school in your PE kit. Make sure long hair is tied back and jewellery is removed or covered. Remember that PE kit needs to be appropriate.
- Homework will be set on a Friday and needs to be in by Wednesday. If you need help with your homework, please let us know on Monday or Tuesday and we will be happy to help.
- We have music lessons every Wednesday. We are very lucky to be able to learn a musical instrument in Year 4. Later in the term, you will take your instrument home (with parental permission) but you must remember your instrument every week. It is also important to try and practise at home where possible.

Ancient Maya Day!
Today, Year 4 stepped back in time as they explored the fascinating world of the Ancient Maya. Dressed in their fantastic Maya headdresses, the children looked the part as the took the role of archaeologists for the morning.
Using careful observation and teamwork, they investigated artefacts, uncovered clues and began to piece together what life might have been like in the Maya civilisation. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity as they fully immersed themselves in their learning.
In the afternoon, Year 4 looked at the artwork of Frederick Catherwood, who documented Maya artefacts and ruins when they were first discovered in the early 1800s. Year 4 used their shading and toning techniques from their recent art lessons to create their own versions of his artwork. The children thought carefully about proportion and how to make their work look 3D by adding shadows and highlights.
A brilliant day of hands-on history!
