Enrichment Opportunities in the curriculum

Curriculum Enrichment at Overseal Primary School

At Overseal Primary School, we carefully engineer enrichment opportunities across our curriculum to make learning impactful and memorable, while strengthening pupils’ personal development.

Our Overseal Pathways to Achieve ensure that enrichment is planned within every subject, giving all children access to rich experiences that build confidence, resilience, cultural understanding, and respect for others. Alongside this, our unique Overseal SHINE Cultural Passports map out opportunities for pupils’ wider development, ensuring they experience a broad range of activities that prepare them for life beyond school.

These carefully planned experiences support pupils to develop as well-rounded individuals, helping us deliver our mission that “Every child deserves a positive primary education.”

Examples of our curriculum enrichment in include:

  • Growing and releasing butterflies to develop responsibility and understanding of the natural world
  • Celebrating Eid with members of the Muslim community to promote inclusion and cultural awareness
  • Taking part in river fieldwork to experience Geography in a real-world context
  • Visiting the National Space Centre to inspire curiosity and ambition

Through this approach, pupils gain meaningful experiences, develop their character, and build the knowledge and skills they need to "all achieve."

Our enrichment offer ensures we truly live out our vision — “We all shine.”

Pupils value the many opportunities they have to learn about the wider world. They enthusiastically take part in the educational visits to local and national places of interest. They understand the importance of respecting others' differences.” Ofsted 2026

"Leaders have in place a well-designed curriculum. They have an accurate understanding of the quality of the curriculum based on thorough evaluations. As a result, leaders and staff make ongoing improvements." Ofsted 2026
