Art & Design
In art this half term, we have been looking at sculpture and 3D artwork. Firstly, we looked at how sculptors sometimes draw to help them visualise the finished sculpture. We explored how we could draw a design based on Magdalene Odundo’s work using 3D drawing techniques.
In our second lesson, we explored carving techniques using soap to carve fish. Then, we looked at how we can bend, twist and model wire to form shapes. We created wire sculptures following our plans.
In our final sculpture lesson, we explored how to make art out of recycled materials. We selected found items based on size, shape, colour or texture and thought about ways we could combine and attach the different items to make a finished piece. The results were very imaginative!
Design and Technology
In Design and Technology this term, we have been creating free-standing frame structures of different shapes and sizes. We all designed a pavilion that was strong, stable and aesthetically pleasing.
History
In History, we recorded podcasts. We were learning about the three saints who came to Britain to convert the Anglo-Saxons from Pagans to Christians.
