At Overseal Primary, we embrace Design and Technology as a fundamental opportunity to inspire our children’s imagination, aiming to foster a sense of curiosity through an innovative approach to solving real and relevant problems. By the time that children leave our school, we hope to have empowered them with a skill set for an increasingly technological world.
Our curriculum teaches children to develop and apply their creative, technical and practical skills, whilst a broad range of subject knowledge draws on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Through the evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, our children develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
We aim to foster resourcefulness through the design, make and evaluative process, and encourage children of all abilities to confidently show a ‘can do’ attitude towards challenging tasks. By being willing to take a risk, engage in new experiences and learn by trial and error, we hope that they will grow into enterprising and capable citizens, with a thirst for knowledge and discovery.
