P.E.
A quote from our Curriculum Intent
'We aim to inspire a lifelong love of physical activity by focusing on fundamental movement skills (e.g., agility, balance, coordination, object control), teamwork, resilience, healthy living, and competitive spirit. Through Get Set 4 PE, every pupil will have the opportunity to achieve their personal best and leave primary school being physically literate, confident in swimming (25 m), and ready for lifelong active engagement.'
Uniform
The general teaching requirement for health and safety applies in this subject. We encourage the children to consider their own safety and the safety of others at all times. We expect them to attend school changed for PE into the agreed clothing for each activity area. Please refer to the school uniform policy for PE lessons.
If your child does not come in the correct uniform for PE they will not be allowed to take part in the lesson.
The policy of the school (in line with the County directives) is that all jewellery must be removed before a child takes part in any physical activity. A child must remove their own earrings. If a child cannot remove their own earrings then parents/carers must provide suitable tape so that the child can cover their earrings. Glasses straps are provided for those children who need to wear their glasses at all times. First aid boxes are available at a short distance from all of the PE locations and children will be provided with first aid slips during the lesson as normal. Inhalers for pupils suffering from asthma will be readily accessible. Water Bottles should go outside with the children when their PE lessons are outside. The majority of staff are first aid trained and several staff are paediatric first aid trained too.
Sports Premium Funding
We intend to use the PE and Sport Premium funding to provide sustained improvement in PE and School Sport provision, focusing on the five key indicators:
The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.
The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
Increased participation in competitive sport.
