Please can you choose a book and spend 10 minutes+ reading/sharing it with an adult or older sibling. It can be a book that you have at home or an eBook on the Oxford Owl website.


If you would like to do more then choose an activity from  READING resources and weblinks on the main Reception home learning page. There are sheets to print for reading and comprehension or websites to find interactive books so choose something that interests you!


Brain warm up: Choose a way to warm up your brain by recalling Phase 3 sounds. You could use your own flashcards or the PhonicsPlay website ‘Flashcard Speed Trial’ or ‘A Giggling Grapheme’.


Phase 4 learning: To practise blending and reading Phase 4 words, play Make a Match or Reading Robot’ on the Phonics play website or choose an activity from the ‘PHONICS resources and weblinks’ section on the main page.

Wednesday Writing: Label the parts of a bee

How many body parts do insects have?

What are the body parts called?

How many legs do insects have?

**Have fun completing the body parts bee puzzle and label the main parts of the bee or you could paint or draw your own bee and label it. Remember to form your letters accurately.**

Things to remember to be a good writer:

  • Think about your letter formation
  • Any longer words, remember to chop them up into parts to make it easier to sound out for writing


Wednesday Maths: Understanding the concept of half and double

You will need:

A tens frame, a container, 10 objects for counting and number cards to 5.

** Use your objects, choose an amount and find half and double.**

If you would like another activity then complete the butterfly doubling sheet (choose your level of challenge) or you could draw your own butterflies!
