Lesson 2 - Count faces, edges and vertices on 3D shapes

Today, as you have been used to doing, you will first need to visit the White Rose website for the video. The White Rose website link below will take you to the correct page for Year 2.

Watch the video slides – pause and rewind as you need to. Then, answer the questions on the activity sheets in your exercise book. The answers are there for you to check, too.

You can also visit the BBC website, following the link below, for additional videos and activities on today's lesson if you would like further support with your learning.

Literacy

I know we have already looked at using exclamation marks but today's lesson will give you a chance to recap to ensure you are confident. You will apply your knowledge in a different context today as you will be writing a conversation between pirates.

Follow the BBC link below and watch the short video. Then, complete the activities.

Activity 1: Complete the quiz.

Activity 2: Imagine you are a pirate, a captain of a ship or a pirate's parrot. Draw a picture of each character and include a speech bubble over each of them. In each speech bubble write a sentence with what the character is saying. Make sure each sentence includes at least one exclamation mark.

Activity 3: Write a conversation between two of your characters from activity 2. Make sure you use correct punctuation, include exclamation marks in some of your sentences and use capital letters correctly.

Topic

It was great to hear you enjoyed learning to type again last week. Today, you will apply your previous top, bottom and home row key learning.

Go to your Purple Mash home page.

Then, follow the steps below.

Mixed Keys

I have put pictures below of what you should see on your screen as you follow the steps above.

Today, we will complete ‘Mixed Keys’.

There are three activities, ending in a ‘beat the clock’ game.

I will only set the 2do for the final game, but by practising each of these activities first, you’ll get better much quicker and begin to learn how to type properly.

You are able to alter the time to more or less minutes - it depends how you get on. Also, you might want to do some of the activities just the once, others more times. Can you beat your time? I know I kept wanting to beat mine!

Have fun learning to type!
