Please can you choose a book and spend 10 minutes+ reading/sharing it with an adult or older sibling. It can be a book that you have at home or an eBook on the Oxford Owl website.


If you would like to do more then choose an activity from  READING resources and weblinks on the main Reception home learning page. There are sheets to print for reading and comprehension or websites to find interactive books so choose something that interests you!


Brain warm up: Choose a tricky word that you find hard (It could be Phase 3 or 4) and see how many times you can write it accurately in 30 seconds. You will need an adult to time you or learn how to use a timer yourself. Repeat this with another word or two.


Phase 4 learning: Choose an activity from PHONICS  resources and weblinks on the main Reception home learning page.

Tuesday Writing: Bee Facts


With your adult, read some of the bee fact cards and talk about what you find out. If you come across a technical word that you don't understand then remember to use your breakdown truck and ask what it means.


**Now write a fact/a few facts about bees that you found interesting.**

E.g. Thair ar three tipes of bees.

The queen bee lais the egg.


Things to remember to be a good writer:

  • Think about your letter formation
  • Are there any phase 3 digraphs/digraphs you can use in the words?
  • Any longer words, remember to chop them up into parts to make it easier to sound out for writing
  • Finger spaces needed between each word

Tuesday Maths: Understanding the concept of halving

You will need:

2 containers, 10 objects for counting and number cards to 10.

Finding half is the same as sharing something equally between 2.

** Use your objects, choose an amount and find half. **

*Challenge: Can you find half of 3 objects? (or 5, 7, 9?) why not?*

If you would like another activity then complete the Bee halving sheet or the ladybird halving sheet (choose your level of challenge).
