Click on the link above.

This will take you to the White Rose lessons for Summer Term – Week 2 (w/c 27th April).

Scroll down to Lesson 2. Watch the video slides – pause and rewind as you need to. Then, answer the questions on the activity sheets in your exercise book.

The answers are there for you to check, too.

This is what your screen should look like when you get to the website.

You can either click on the links for the activity sheets and answers, or I’ve put them below, too.

(You will need to go to the website for the video, though.)

Literacy

Tuesday 28th April

Today, I would like you to write a character description about either the person in the doorway or the tiger.

I’d like you to write this in your exercise book, please. It’s really important that we keep practising our writing – I imagine, if you’re like me, your handwriting is beginning to slip a little bit. Try really hard today to form letters accurately and to sit it on the line.  You can take a photo of your work and email it to:

year5@overseal.derbyshire.sch.uk.

Remember to use your imagination.

You might want to give your character a name.

Then write a descriptive narrative within a paragraph (or more than one) and think about the following:

  • Appearance (what they look like - describe their features)
  • Personality (what kind of character they are)
  • Habitat/Home (where they live - describe the setting)
  • What are they doing there?

Can you include expanded noun phrases?

E.g.

a brave, adventurous girl

a wise, malevolent tiger

the rickety, billowing chimney

Don’t forget also to use a range of openers for your sentences – can you remember the VCOP display or the writing targets?

Below are some resources you may find helpful.

Geography - Yosemite National Park

Lesson 1 -  Yosemite Detectives!

Watch the slides on Yosemite National Park – pay attention, there’ll be some questions in a bit! (The link will be at the bottom of the instructions.)

If you click on the on the little square along the top tool bar, with the corners shaded, it will let you move the slides along with a big arrow on the bottom right of the screen.

Work your way through the slides, then complete the questions on the sheet below – put your answers in your exercise book.

I’ve also included the answers below, so you can check if you were right.

Now, look at the task below – you are going to become Yosemite Detectives!

Looking at the pictures of Yosemite on the slides, you can learn and infer a lot!

Go to Purple Mash 2Dos - What I have Learned. Become a Yosemite Detective and answer the questions above , telling me what you have learned/can infer about Yosemite.
