Thursday
PHONICS:
Brain warm up: Warm up your brain by reading the words on the Phase 4 sound mat. If you want a challenge then see if you can think of any other words that contain some of these consonant clusters. E.g. For the consonant cluster ‘br’ I can also think of brown and brick.
Phase 4 learning: Have fun playing ‘Alien Escape’ on Phonics Bloom to practise your segmenting and blending skills to re-arrange the sounds to spell a word. Or you could choose an activity from the ‘PHONICS resources and weblinks’ section on the main page.
Thursday Writing: Spider facts
**Watch the Spider clips to find out some more facts about spiders. Talk about the facts that you found interesting. Now write a fact/a few facts about spiders that you found interesting.**
E.g. Sum spiders can jump and thay are culerful.
Things to remember to be a good writer:
- Think about your letter formation
- Are there any phase 3 digraphs/digraphs you can use in the words?
- Any longer words, remember to chop them up into parts to make it easier to sound out for writing
- Finger spaces needed between each word
- Use a capital letters and full stops
- Try to use 'and' to join your ideas.
Thursday Maths: Estimating and counting
Estimating is making a sensible guess. It doesn’t mean getting the correct number.
You will need: a piece of paper, a pencil and number cards up to 20.
** You will be estimating amounts and finding the right number card or writing the number.**
If you would like another activity, then you can use the sweet shop estimating sheets or choose to do some home learning estimating challenges.
Can you be a superstar learner and use the maths star words today?
*estimate, count, how many *
