Lesson 4 - Patterns with 2D and 3D shapes

Today, as you have been used to doing, you will first need to visit the White Rose website for the video. The White Rose website link below will take you to the correct page for Year 2.

Watch the video slides – pause and rewind as you need to. Then, answer the questions on the activity sheets in your exercise book. The answers are there for you to check, too.

You can also visit the BBC website, following the link below, for additional videos and activities on today's lesson if you would like further support with your learning.

Literacy

Today, you will be describing a pirate. First of all, follow the link below and watch the video of actress Anjli Mohindra read extracts from 'Sam Silver: Undercover Pirate' by Jan Burchett and Sara Vogler. You do not need to complete the activities on this BBC link, only watch the pirate story video. This video will help you to imagine a pirate character and hopefully give you some ideas for when you describe your own pirate today.

Log on to Purple Mash and click the 2do 'Describe a pirate'. You could either describe a pirate you already know from a story or create your own! Don't forget to include interesting adjectives and expanded noun phrases.

Topic - Geography

Today, we will be solving some atlas riddles!

First, have a look at the map of the world below displaying the continents and oceans.

Then, look at the world map below displaying the countries within each continent.

After that, complete the atlas riddles sheet. You can choose which challenge you would like to do. The more stars, the trickier the challenge.

Remember to look back at the maps to help you.

You can send your work to year2@overseal.derbyshire,sch.uk
