Monday Writing: Bee Fact File

This week we are learning all about bees. Bees are extremely important creatures! Today and tomorrow, you will be learning facts about bees, talking about what you’ve learned and then writing some facts.

Watch the BBC clip to find out why bees are so important and ask your adult to read the facts underneath to find out about different types of bees.

**Now write a fact/a few facts about bees that you found interesting.**

E.g. Thair ar three tipes of bees.

The queen bee lais the egg.

Things to remember to be a good writer:

  • Think about your letter formation
  • Are there any phase 3 digraphs/digraphs you can use in the words?
  • Any longer words, remember to chop them up into parts to make it easier to sound out for writing
  • Finger spaces needed between each word

Monday Maths: Understanding the concept of doubling

You will need:

A container with 10 objects for counting and number cards to 10.

Doubling means having 2 groups of the same amount of objects.

** Use your objects and find double the amount.**

*Challenge: Can you use your fingers to find doubles to 5+5? Can you begin to learn some off by heart? *

If you would like another activity then complete the ladybird doubling sheet (choose your level of challenge). Or you could draw some ladybirds and double their spots!

Can you be a superstar learner and use the maths star words today?

*double, altogether, how many? count *

Key Questions

Is it double?

What is double… (1/2/3/4/5)?
