Monday 8th June
- I can read and understand a poem.
- I can read and discuss a poem.
- I can explain what nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs are.
- I can suggest ‘real’ words to replace ‘nonsense’ words in a poem using clues in the text.
This week, we’re going to be looking at poetry. We’re starting by looking at a poem called The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll.
Work your way through the powerpoint below.
What are your first impressions of the poem?
What do we learn about the poem from just the first verse?
What ‘I wonder questions’ do you have about the poem?
There are a lot of ‘nonsense’ words in The Jabberwocky. Your job is to work out what they are and to decide if they are nouns, adverbs, adjectives or verbs,
There is a sheet attached which will let you do this. There are two levels of challenge – choose which one you feel happy with.

Home Activity 6
We are still all spending a lot more time than we would normally on a computer. I’m sure a lot of us are also keeping in touch with friends and family on computers or screens and no doubt, we’re playing a few more games on-line than we normally would, too.
This is all okay and it can be a lot of fun, but we need to remember how to keep ourselves and others safe whilst using the internet.
I’d like you to follow the link below. It will take you to the ‘Think You Know’ home learning activity pack 6.
Work your way through the page, try to have fun and pay attention to what it says – it makes a lot of sense!
Don’t forget you can share how you get on by emailing:
