Lesson 1 - Multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000
This week we are starting a new topic on fractions.
You need to go click on the video link below which will lead you to, Summer 1 Week 5 because this is the learning we need to cover (don't worry we are not behind).
Today your screen should look like this so make sure you are working from the right page.
Watch the video as many times as you need to. Start the task and then mark your own answers. I have attached the question and answers worksheet below.
This week we are going to explore a video which shows the narrative of a city in the future which has been consumed with a Flora and Fauna.
This hyper realistic short animation (8mins 30secs) is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape of derelict buildings which are slowly being taken over by the futuristic flora and fauna.
I would like you to watch just the beginning of the video. Pause it at the beginning as I have in this picture.
Your task today is to try and write a description of this setting and to create atmosphere and mood. How will you capture the mood of devastation and stillness?
See my model below. I tried to describe the setting with some atmosphere. I have included some Year 6 punctuation too. I look forward to reading yours when you send them to Year6@overseal.derbyshire.sch.uk
Stretching in front of me, was the road I used to take to work each day. Now the tarmac, once compounded with traffic, was consumed with fauna. Skyscrapers still stood, reaching for the clouds, before they too drowned in the suffocating green ocean. Not a sound, not a movement, not a hope was heard. Unforgiving, the flora engulfed the high rise buildings. Stations and shops were submerged: the vicious plant swallowing everything.
Topic- Science- The colour of light
This week we return to our light science topic.
What do you already know about light?
What is a light source?
How does light travel?
What happens when light travels through transparent materials?
What is refraction?
If you cannot answers these questions go back to previous learning pages and find the answers or ask Hey Google!
Today open the powerpoint below to find out about a scientist Isaac Newton.
You will find out what colour light is. Then open the activity to make your own colour wheel.
