Lesson 1 - Add 2 or more fractions

Today, as you have been used to doing, you will first need to visit the White Rose website for the video slides, and worksheets. (I’ve also put the question sheet and answer sheet below.)

Don’t forget, you can watch, pause and rewind the video as you need to.

Today will be the first day of our 'Ickabog' journey and I hope you are all as excited as I am. When I found out J.K. Rowling was releasing a new book online for us to read, I couldn't wait to find out more!

I would like you to read the first chapter of 'The Ickabog' (the chapter link is above) called 'King Fred the Fearless' and get to know the story so far. Take notice of the setting and the characters as this will help you with your writing today and this week. I have copied parts of the story that I think will help with your writing and are the most important parts below.

Your task today is to create your own character (King or Queen) and two sidekicks similar to Lord Spittleworth and Lord Flapoon. Notice how J.K. Rowling adds detail with description to really build a picture in your mind of King Fred and the other characters introduced so far. Your character could be inspired by a ruler from a different story you've read or you could feature in your very own story as the Queen or King!

There will be a task set as a 2do on purple mash. This is where you will create your character and setting description.

Here is a list of the things I will be looking for to make your writing great:

. Main character (king or queen)

. Description of the two sidekicks

. Powerful vocabulary to make your character and setting sound interesting :

- adjectives

- interesting verbs

- adverbs

-similes or metaphors

I cannot wait to read all about your kingdom and character!

Home Activity 4

We are still all spending a lot more time than we would normally on a computer. I’m sure a lot of us are also keeping in touch with friends and family on computers or screens and no doubt, we’re playing a few more games on-line than we normally would, too.

This is all okay and it can be a lot of fun, but we need to remember how to keep ourselves and others safe whilst using the internet.

I’d like you to follow the link below. It will take you to the ‘Think You Know’ home learning activity pack 5.

Work your way through the page, try to have fun and pay attention to what it says – it makes a lot of sense!

Don’t forget you can share how you get on by emailing:

I’ve put the activity sheets below as well.
