Hi Year 4.

I am looking for some feedback about our literacy last week to see what you thought of it. I have set up a blog called 'Literacy' and have asked some questions so I'd really like to hear from you. If your parents or helpers have any feedback too, you can email our class email (Year4@overseal.derbyshire.sch.uk). Getting ideas and hearing your thoughts about your learning at home really matters to me as I want to make sure you are finding it enjoyable and easy to navigate and use!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Maths

Lesson 1 - Multiply 2-digit number by 1-digit number

Today, as you have been used to doing, you will first need to visit the White Rose website for the video slides, and worksheets. (I’ve also put the question sheet and answer sheet below.)

You can also visit the BBC Bitesize website for an extra video on today’s maths lesson (Monday 4th May).

The links are below:

When you click on the White Rose link, this is the video you should see. The worksheets you need to complete are also there but I have downloaded them for you below.

Just a reminder – the idea is that the BBC provides further support to help you learn, you will still need to complete the White Rose question sheet, and as always, you can check your answers.

Literacy

Today, we’re going to be looking at fact retrieval.

Click on this link for the lesson: FACT RETRIEVAL

There are several activities within the lesson all based on Newspaper Reports. The lessons will look a lot like the lessons you have in school! There are quizzes and videos and white board slides.

Start the lesson with the quiz, you can check your scores, the click on ‘Next Activity’ on the bottom right of the screen. (The quizzes open in a new tab, so if you can’t move on to the next activity, you might need to close that window – ask an adult if you’re unsure.)

When you get to the main activity, there are questions to answer. I would like you to answer these in your workbook and if it’s not too much trouble I’d love to see some of your answers so if you can email a photo of your work to Year4@overseal.derbyshire.sch.uk I would be very grateful.

It’s really important that we keep practising our writing – I imagine, if you’re like me, your handwriting is beginning to slip a little bit. Try really hard today to form letters accurately and to sit it on the line.

The lesson finishes with another quiz.

Enjoy!

Home Activity 2

We are still all spending a lot more time than we would normally on a computer. I’m sure a lot of us are also keeping in touch with friends and family on computers or screens and no doubt, we’re playing a few more games on-line than we normally would, too.

This is all okay and it can be a lot of fun, but we need to remember how to keep ourselves and others safe whilst using the internet.

Today, just like last week, all year groups will be doing some activities about staying safe on-line. I’d like you to follow the link below. It will take you to the ‘Think You Know’ home learning activity pack 2.

Work your way through the page, try to have fun and pay attention to what it says – it makes a lot of sense!

Don’t forget you can share how you get on by emailing:

Year4@overseal.derbyshire.sch.uk

I’ve put the activity sheets below as well.
