Let's wake ourselves up a little!
Friday 17th July
Maths - Arithmetic
It's Friday and that means 'arithmetic day'. However, we're going to be doing things a little differently, today - you are going to be creating your own arithmetic test.
You need to think about all of the different types of maths questions you have had in your arithmetic texts over these last few months, e.g. addition, multiplication, fractions etc.
Write a series of arithmetic questions (at least 15) for someone in your house to answer.
Don't forget that you will need to know the answers yourself and be prepared to describe how to work the question out to help your person!
SUMMER TOP TEN
So here we are on our last day as Year 5's about to start the summer holidays.
We have six weeks ahead of us. Let's imagine there are no restrictions and no social distancing rules. In an ideal world, what would you do over the break? Where would you visit? What books would you read? What meals would you most like to eat? What sports would you like to play?
I'd like you to make 'Top Ten Lists'.
Choose any top ten things you'd like to do. I've attached mine below so you can get an idea of how to set it out.
Top ten places I'd like to visit:
- Santorini in Greece
- Yosemite Park in America
- Edinburgh in Scotland
- Taj Mahal in India
- Uluru in Australia
- Berlin in Germany
- Seville in Spain
- Boston in America
- Snowdonia in Wales
- Cornwall in England
Top Ten foods I'd like to eat:
- Waggama's cauliflower bites
- Green pesto lasagne
- Dunkin Donuts covered in sugar
You get the idea!
You can share these lists with me or with your family - who knows, maybe you'll be lucky!
