Within the Early Years Foundation Stage, learning concentrates on seven areas, one of which is Mathematics.
In Reception, we aim to do all we can to help our pupils have the best possible start in mathematics. It is implemented through planned and purposeful play and a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activities. The children experience an exciting curriculum, both indoors and outdoors. It is creative and play-based and challenges each child to achieve their individual potential. Children are encouraged to become independent and active learners.
The Mathematics Curriculum in Reception is initially taken from the Early Years Development Matters (40 to 60 months) and is split into two distinct areas: Numbers and Shape, Space and Measures.
